Abstrak

An unavoidable phenomenon in modern society is the social and cultural transformation occurring among the younger generation.Globalization causes foreign cultures to take over traditional values. This makes the younger generation face the challenge of preserving their cultural identity.Cultural heritage plays an important role in shaping community identity, so for effective cultural preservation, an understanding of the relationship between tradition and modernity is necessary. The qualitative method used in this research is reinforced by a Systematic Literature Review (SLR).The main focus is on Indonesian youth aged 18 to 30 living in Sleman Regency.Data were collected through focus group discussions, in-depth interviews, and article analysis from 2020–2025.To conduct the analysis, Model B by Miles and Huberman will be used. The purpose of this analysis is to provide insights into the interaction between tradition and modernity.Studies show that Indonesian local culture is transformed by modernity and globalization, which affects the younger generation as agents of change.Although they know that tradition is important, it is difficult to communicate with other generations. The study emphasizes the role of social media and technology in preserving this culture, allowing the younger generation to adapt to modernity without losing their cultural identity, which means the preservation of traditions remains relevant and sustainable. The views of the younger generation on the preservation of traditions are expressed in the research "Keeping Traditions Amid Modernity."Although influenced by the modern world, they recognize the importance of traditions such as nyatran and selikuran.Although social media pressure can be distracting, there are beneficial efforts to encourage people to participate in traditional activities. To maintain the sustainability of Indonesian culture, intergenerational communication and the use of technology are necessary
